I've learned a lot!

I am taking conversational Japanese lessons. I think I’m around upper beginner level, learning Japanese because I love languages and hope to travel to and teach there one day. I am somewhat busy but I have time to practice everyday. I signed up for Wada-sensei’s lessons after some time on duolingo searching for a more structured approach, to get feedback, to practice speaking and listening, and to have an expert give me guidance and targeted instruction to what will help me.

In spite of me consistently stumbling for a full minute before giving an incorrect attempt, Wada-sensei has the patience and expertise to know what I’m trying to say and how to make it a learning opportunity. Wada-sensei is very smart, knows a lot about language learning theory, and tailors her lessons to you, your level, and your strengths and weaknesses which she knows better than you do. I think duolingo and flashcards helped a lot with vocab but not a lot with speaking, listening, or grammar and that was why I felt the class would fit my needs.

To supplement the class, I use duolingo and flashcards. Wada-sensei gave me a lot more tools including language learning with netflix and youtube, grammar review, and quizlett flashcards that I add to my own stack. I recommend Wada-sensei to all who are learning Japanese. You will see yourself improve. My advice would be not to be afraid. She is very patient, kind, and forgiving. Do your best. Thank you Wada-sensei for everything. I will try my best so you don’t need to be as patient or as forgiving as you are.
